Travel: ------- Queen Mary University of London is situated on the northern side of Mile End Road, between the Mile End and Stepney Green underground stations. The School of Mathematical Sciences is a tall building at the western extremity of the campus. The closest London Underground Station is Stepney Green (District Line), about 400 metres from the School of Mathematical Sciences. Mile End station (Central and District Lines) is also convenient, being about 800 metres from the School of Mathematical Sciences. To come from Stepney Green, turn left out of the station exit; the Mathematics building is the first tall building you come to. From Mile End, turn left out of the station exit and walk the length of the college site; the Mathematics building is the last one you will come to. Both Mile End and Stepney Green are in Zone Two on the London Underground. For information on the London Underground (including maps), see for example: http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/the-tube.php Queen Mary is also served by several bus routes. See http://www.tfl.gov.uk/buses/spiders/pdf/mile-end.pdf for more details. For example the number 25 bus stops at various points on Mile End Rd opposite Queen Mary campus (e.g. opposite the School of Mathematicl Sciences). In one direction it goes past Liverpool St and into central London; in the other it goes into Stratford and East London. Directions from airports: ------------------------- From London Heathrow: Quickest option (1 hour): Take Heathrow Express train to Paddington. Take Underground from Paddington to either Stepney Green (Circle line to Liverpool St, then Hammersmith & City line to Stepney Green) or Mile End (Circle line to Liverpool St, then Central line to Mile End; or Circle or District line to Notting Hill Gate then Central line to Mile End) Cheaper option (90 minutes): Take Underground from Heathrow to either Stepney Green [best if you have luggage, as you avoid a platform change] (Piccadilly Line to Barons Court, then District line to Stepney Green) or Mile End [usually a bit quicker, but involves a walk between platforms] (Piccadilly Line to Holborn, then Central line to Mile End) From London Gatwick: Take Gatwick Express train from Gatwick to Victoria. Take Underground to Stepney Green (District line). From London Stansted: Take Stansted Express train from Stansted to Liverpool Street.
